BCCI Introduces 10-Point Disciplinary Guidelines

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a comprehensive 10-point disciplinary guideline to enhance discipline and unity within the national cricket team through an exclusive policy document as reported by India Today. This initiative comes in response to recent underwhelming performances against New Zealand at home and a disappointing tour of Australia.

The BCCI’s 10-point disciplinary guidelines include:

1. Mandatory Domestic Cricket—Players must participate in domestic tournaments to be eligible for selection. Exceptions will require approval from the chairman of selectors.
2. Team Travel Requirement—Players are required to travel with the team for matches and practice sessions. Any exceptions to this rule must receive prior approval from the head coach and the chairperson of selectors.
3. Baggage Restrictions – Players must comply with specified baggage limits, and any excess costs will be the individual’s responsibility.
4. Limit on Personal Staff—Personal managers, chefs, and security are restricted from going on tours. Only staff members explicitly approved by the BCCI are allowed to do so.
5. Equipment Coordination—Players must coordinate with team management to transport equipment to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
6. Full Practice Attendance – Players must stay for the entire practice session.
7. No Endorsements During Tours – To eliminate distractions, commercial shoots and endorsements are banned during the series.
8. Family Stay Limitations – Family visits are restricted to two weeks on long overseas tours exceeding 45 days.
9. Participation in BCCI Activities – Players must attend official BCCI shoots and promotional events.
10. Staying Until Tour Ends – Players cannot leave early, even if the series ends sooner than expected.

Non-compliance with these guidelines may result in disciplinary action, including deductions from retainer fees and potential bans from participating in BCCI-conducted tournaments, such as the Indian Premier League (IPL).
