The All-India Football Federation (AIFF) adopted the pending clauses of the Supreme Court-approved Constitution at its extraordinary general meeting on November 24, 2025.
After the Court approved the draft Constitution in September this year, the AIFF adopted it in its entirety on October 12, excluding two contentious clauses pending the Court’s directions. Subsequently, the Court ruled on these clauses on October 15:
- Article 23.3of the draft Constitution, which required the Supreme Court’s nod for any amendments to the AIFF Constitution, need not be adopted.
- Articles 25.3(c) and 25.3(d), which include provisions against concurrent membership, must be adopted within three weeks, but will come into effect after the term of the present executive expires in September 2026.
In view of these clarifications, the AIFF has formally adopted Article 25.3 (c) and (d). With this, the AIFF Constitution is now in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions, and the matter pending since 2017 is conclusively resolved.
In the meantime, the Indian Super League (ISL) clubs have called for amendments to “commercially restrictive” clauses in the AIFF Constitution at the annual general meeting on December 20. This request follows the ISL commercial rights tender, which ended without any bidders.
