Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), i.e., Culver Max Entertainment Private Limited, has obtained the media rights for the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) tournaments for eight years in a deal valued at $170 million. It will now have exclusive rights to broadcast all editions of the men’s and women’s Asia Cups, the Under-19 Asia Cups, and the Emerging Teams Asia Cups across television, digital, and audio platforms.
The previous media rights cycle for the 2016-2024 period was valued at $62 million, 70% less than the current cycle. Meanwhile, JioStar has secured the media rights for the next three seasons of the European Premier League, beginning with the 2025-2026 season, in a deal valued at $65 million. The global value of sports broadcasting rights continues to increase, with cricket seeing a significant increase of over 15% compared to 2023.
