Temporary Suspension of Spar Geo Infra Amid Concerns Over Safety and Compliance

M/s Spar Geo Infra Pvt. Ltd. has been temporarily suspended from participating in ongoing and future bidding for a period of one month, effective from August 2, 2024.

This decision comes in light of significant concerns regarding the company’s adherence to safety standards and compliance with contractual agreements during the execution of highway restoration works.

The decision follows a detailed review of M/s Spar Geo Infra Pvt. Ltd.’s modifications to agreement drawings, which had been vetted by THDC. The company had made drastic changes to the design and drawings during the construction design stage, based on field investigation reports approved by the Design Director, Proof Consultant, and Safety Consultant. These changes resulted in a significant reduction in the scope of work.

Instances such as reduction of wall height leading to collapse, bulging of RME structure due to change in location, negligence of stabilization measures, etc. raised serious safety concerns.

Given the findings, the company was instructed to remove and re-execute any work that did not comply with the agreement’s provisions, specifications, and standards. Additionally, the company was required to undertake any work urgently needed to ensure the safety of the project highway. This suspension is in accordance with the Ministry Circular dated October 6, 2021, and will remain in effect until the issues are rectified and a further assessment is conducted.
