Zeeshan is a Partner in the Mumbai office at Fox Mandal and heads the Banking and Finance practice of the Firm for Mumbai and Western India region. He has over 16 years of experience in the banking and finance space, advising on all aspects of financing across its life cycle – from the pre-sanction stage through to the resolution of stressed debt.

EXPERTISE

He is recognised for advising on sophisticated financing structures across the entire credit lifecycle, from origination and deployment of capital to restructuring, enforcement and resolution. His practice encompasses project and infrastructure finance, acquisition and structured finance, private credit, syndicated lending, debt capital markets, cross-border financing and special situations investments. He regularly acts for lenders, borrowers and investors on large and strategically significant transactions across India and international markets.

A distinctive aspect of his practice is his ability to combine traditional financing expertise with deep restructuring and distressed debt capabilities. He advises financial institutions, private credit platforms, asset reconstruction companies, insolvency professionals and investors on stressed and distressed situations, liability management exercises, debt acquisitions, creditor rights, enforcement strategies and insolvency proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.

His experience spans some of India’s most significant financing and restructuring transactions across sectors including renewable energy, roads and highways, metro rail, ports, logistics, data centres, manufacturing, real estate and financial services. He has advised on landmark matters involving several of India’s largest insolvency and restructuring mandates.

He also advises banks, NBFCs, fintech companies and digital lending platforms on the evolving regulatory framework governing digital lending, technology-enabled credit models, outsourcing arrangements, payment ecosystems and financial services regulation in India.
