The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) has praised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Malaysia Madani Budget 2025 for its focus on promoting sports development and inclusivity across the nation. OCM President Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria highlighted the government’s efforts to support both Olympic and non-Olympic sports through initiatives such as the Road to Gold and Podium programs, which ensure world-class training and resources for athletes.
A notable RM15 million allocation to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has been set aside to develop national senior and age-group teams. Additionally, the continued matching grant program to encourage private sector sponsorships is expected to enhance the quality of high-performance sports events. Other initiatives, such as tax relief for parents purchasing sports equipment, aim to foster greater community participation in sports and encourage active lifestyles. The allocation highlights Malaysia’s commitment to sporting excellence while ensuring that sports play a unifying role in the nation’s development.
